T. Boone Pickens Energy Plan

Quote from T. Boone Pickens

"IT'S TIME TO STOP AMERICA'S ADDICTION TO FOREIGN OIL

America is in a hole and it's getting deeper every day. We import 70% of our oil at a cost of $700 billion a year - four times the annual cost of the Iraq war.

I've been an oil man all my life, but this is one emergency we can't drill our way out of. But if we create a new renewable energy network, we can break our addiction to foreign oil.

On January 20, 2009, a new President gets sworn in. If we're organized, we can convince Congress to make major changes towards cleaner, cheaper and domestic energy resources."

Is this the way we will make our planet greener...I'm not a lover of those huge windmills filling the landscape, but the idea of an equal number of oil wells being there doen't sound great either.

Right now the United States is sitting between a rock and a hard place...which way should we go? The high price of oil is changing the American lifestyle...big cars are on the decline, more people are riding busses and trains and mass transit is booming. Thats great for the planet.

But, our own population is in dire straits...no, we're not suffering as if we were in a 3rd world country. But, oil and gasoline prices have caused increases in our daily lives....ask anyone who is trying to drive to work...at BurgerKing, small businesses or those who are paid a minimum wage. It costs more for them to get to and from work than they make.

Maybe wind power isn't the answer to our energy crisis, but its something to think about.
