Greening the office

The law firm of McGill, Gotsdiner, Workman & Lepp is the first Nebraska firm to join an American Bar Association program aimed at reducing waste and preserving natural resources.

According to the bar association, a single attorney uses up to a half ton of paper per year. Multiply that by the thousands of attorneys in this country.

Simple tips to greening an office:

1. Turn off computers overnight..don't use standby
2. Print and copy using both sides of the paper when possible
3. Don't print multiple drafts of a document
4. Use real dishes instead of paper plates, eliminate plastic utensils
5. Use a water filtration system instead of bottled water
6. Recycle at least 90 percent of all paper, including envelopes, letterhead stationery and magazines.
7. Use paper products which are at least 30% recycled materials

Recycle aluminum cans and plastic. Recycle electronic equipment, printer and copier cartiridges. Purchase energy from renewable sources.

If they can do it.....so can you!
